A 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 10 Reportedly Sold for $50 Million
The sports card world is buzzing over a report that a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle graded PSA 10 has sold privately for $50 million. The claim comes from entrepreneur and collector Patrick Bet-David. No auction house has confirmed the sale, and neither the buyer nor the seller has been named.
Why It Matters
If the price is accurate, it would be by far the biggest sports card sale ever. It’s roughly four times the largest sale on public record, the $12.93 million Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant Dual Logoman from August 2025. The 1952 Mantle’s own public record is $12.6 million, set at Heritage Auctions in 2022 by a copy graded SGC 9.5.
One of Only Three
Only three 1952 Topps Mantles have ever earned PSA’s perfect Gem Mint 10 grade. Longtime collector Marshall Fogel owns one. He has said he turned down offers of $25 to $30 million and believes his card is worth $50 million. Ken Kendrick owns the second, and a private collector holds the third. It’s not known which of the three, if any, changed hands.
The Bottom Line
For now, treat the $50 million figure as a rumor until a buyer, seller or broker confirms it. Either way, it shows the Mantle is still the holy grail of the hobby.
